Alcohol may have been a factor in this car amphibiousness test

Remember life before Russian dashcam videos? Me neither, because wine. But I’ll hazard a guess that it was far less enriching.

The usual scenes of poor high speed passing decisions, pedestrians avoiding near-death experiences and vehicles becoming airborne are commonplace at this stage, so the pressure for someone to do something truly original and stylish was powerful. Until now.

Even if you don’t speak Russian, one can sense the drunken rambling going on in the car as the driver neglects to slow down after three warning signs and the rapidly approaching red and white guardrail. Plowing straight through, the car probably would have just ended up in the trees, but a halfhearted, last second attempt to stay on the road puts them in the river.

The windshield wipers turning on just before hitting water is a nice touch. Slow with the wheel, but a ninja on that wiper lever.

According to a YouTube commenter, the surprisingly calm dialog as they float along goes a little something like this:
“Oh, we float!”
“Where we go?”
“I don’t know, maybe to the shore.”
“Don’t steer the wheel, it’s useless.”
