People arguing that smartphones distract too much from absorbing new experiences while traveling have just gotten themselves and new poster girl.

A Taiwanese tourist had to be plucked out of Port Phillip Bay in Melbourne after walking off St Kilda’s pier while engrossed in something undoubtedly super important that was happening on Facebook.

The goof, which would normally only be considered “advanced stupid,” was elevated to “outstandingly stupid” being that the woman was staggering blindly around open water knowing that she can’t swim.

A speedboat pulled her out of the cold sea after 20 minutes. A combination of thrashing and floating kept her from drowning.

She was still holding the phone.
