I was transfixed by Chris Hadfield’s series of videos from the International Space Station, demonstrating sleeping in space, what happens when you cry in space, and the geekiest thing that ever happened, chatting with William Shatner.

Then, of course, one of the top 10 moments in the history of the internet, Hadfield made a music video in the ISS to David Bowie’s “Space Oddity.”

Hadfield returned from his latest post on the ISS in May, retired from the Canadian Space Agency in June, then in October released his book “An Astronaut’s Guide to Life on Earth: What Going to Space Taught Me About Ingenuity, Determination, and Being Prepared for Anything.”

Pam Mandel, good friend of Killing Batteries and 10 times the Hadfield fan, was invited to interview Hadfield during his appearance at Book Passage in San Francisco. Here’s the full interview, including questions about space station life, post-astronaut life and a guitar/ukulele jam session.
