Craig - Yes, pink wouldn't have been my first choice, but the black text on other color background feels like a smart step forward.

@Leif -- UGH! I can't stomach the rose-pink colored maps in Tuscany & Umbria... seriously painful to look at.

Ok, I can understand, kind of, the head in one place and body in another, but I'm not sure why Siena would get the thumb (and who detached all these body parts, anyway).

So sad that Catherine's story won't be in the LP guide, but I'll be looking to see the changes, too!

@TC - Those mild weather to mild weather transitions are the best, no? Actually, I was in Norway back in July. I was a little burned out on travel after that trip, but I'm getting a head of steam to sally forth again.

Thanks for the great article. I'll be sending out the promo to all my followers. It might be the perfect incentive to Tuscany!

And hey...you're in MSP and just came back from Norway? Sounds suspiciously like me (I'm in SD and just came back from Norway too.)

@Florin - I'm afraid the pared down version of Tuscany and Umbria distills Food and Drink down to mostly Stuff You Have to Try lists, rather than the usual comprehensive essay touching on everything. Both good and bad, if you ask me.

@Craig - I don't believe there are map examples online yet, but if you happen to be in a book shop in the next few weeks, several other books in addition to Tuscany are coming that are being relaunched in this style, like Italian Lakes, Naples & the Amalfi Coast, Corsica, Brittany & Normandy, Provence & the Cote d'Azur and Andalucia.

I'm curious what the next generation of LP maps will looks like -- is there a sample somewhere to look at?
