I might expand beyond Iasi on my next Moldova run for some of this! ...great news about wi-fi also. Rather than lugging around a notebook, I recommend the Nokia n810 as the perfect balance of portability, usability (Skype- and Bluetooth-ready, with GPS too), and top-notch wifi sniffing. They've been around for a couple of years now, so prices are way down (about $150), and a bargain at twice the price. Fantastic sounding trip. Unfortunately we got there at 3:55pm and they were closing at 4, so we couldn't get in. (This was in the first week of January this year. Not exactly high season.) Doing a lap around the outside, which we were probably not allowed to do, was kind of fun though. The place was completely deserted, and the castle is really impressive from the outside at least. We then went to a restaurant that was equally desserted, and had this funny atmosphere that I've only ever experienced in Romania. A big, empty space.
