Talking about Sibiu-Hermannstadt in Transylvania…

The Sibiu International Airport is now a very good choice for getting started a trip in Transylvania. It is now probably one of the most modern and well-organised airport in Romania.

Business people can now also check-in at the recently opened 5 stars Hilton Hotel in Sibiu/Hermannstadt (hotel & nice spa).

What I like more and more in Sibiu is the festival portfolio:
The Sibiu International Theatre Festival (FITS)
The Sibiu International Jazz Festival
The International Documentary Films Festival ”ASTRA”
ARMANIA Rock Festival, etc.

The fact that the Romanians, as the majority ethnical group in Sibiu, keep on voting a German political party and a German mayor in Sibiu, is also a lovely European detail. Does this also happen in Belgium or Spain? :-)))

As a Romanian, it’s always fun for me to read what others think about us, because as an Eastern European country we’re pretty much used to having the zoom lense stuck over our heads, fingers pointed in our directions. Thankfully, from what I read on your blog, you’re being rather objective, both with the good and bad stuff going on here.

If you ever come to Cluj-Napoca (which is pretty much the heart of Transylvania), I can give you some pointers on what’s hot and what’s not around these parts :)

I just have to say that your blog is better than chocolate! (and I can count the number of things in the BTC category on one hand). I’m in the middle of one of the worst weeks of my life- stumbled upon your blog, and it is the best distraction ever. I love your writing style, and your sense of humor. you should write about airlines that take four hours to get a replacement plane available at their eff-ing primary hub where there’s nothing to do, nothing worth eating, nobody worth checking out, and the only thing keeping you from hanging yourself is the marginally acceptable free wifi
