Way back in February, I taped a few destination pieces for Lonely Planet TV while I was their guest in San Francisco. The Tuscany video went online today. (If, like me, your blog reader doesn’t show the embedded video, click here.)
Agonizing over travel insurance? Maybe I can help…

Wow, Leif! That was just so good. I can’t even think of any smart-ass comments to make. Did you nail it in one take?

Leif, that was awesome! Good for you, I hope you made a good chunk of cash doing that.

Jamie- of course he did, he’s good at nailing things. ;D bada-bing!
Hahahahaha just kidding.
Anyway. . .
Seriously, though, that’s neat! You did a good job! A regular supa-star! I had no clue LP did things like that! I thought it was just books! Very interesting!

bravo — an enjoyable watch

Thanks guys. Jamie, that 3:22 was distilled down from one hour of my babbling, so no I didn’t nail it in one take. If you listen closely you can hear how they verily created new sentences by splicing together one and two of my words at a time in places. I guess I wasn’t concise enough for the busy interwebs community.

Pardon me if this is fangirling to excess, but what I liked about the video was the sincere enthusiasm you had for the audience – you come across as a guy who really wants people to have a good time when they travel, and is using your vast knowledge to make sure they do, even though it’s hard for you to distill it all down into a soundbite. Good job Lonely Planet for hiring you – I think that is an intangible and priceless quality for a travel guide to have, and thus for a travel guide company to offer.

1. Lays to rest any name pronunciation quandaries.
2. GIves appearance of solid and trustworthy knowlegableness.
3. Good job. Makes a person want to beeline over there with autographed LP guide in hand.

And Matt wins the award for being the first to notice/comment on the Florence/Sienna images snafu. I informed LP, particularly as I didn’t want that to be repeated in my upcoming Florence video.
The rest of you are too kind. Please tell all your TV producer friends.
