My summer in Romania and Moldova

A few months ago I promised to put together a slide show tease of Romania and Moldova from my trips this summer and my vast collection of photos. Done and done.

Very nice – a lot of gorgeous photos. What is the story behind the pot tree?

    Hi Leif!

Excellent slideshow. Perfect choice of music (I imagine you know the meaning of the song?)

Moldova is probably the only country in the world where car license plates can not only have “ANAL” on them, but also “ORAL”, too bad you didn’t include that one ;)

You should put together compilation of all of the funny pictures you’ve taken! These are beautiful! I also laughed at the license plate. Romania is a beautiful country! Loved the picture at 26 seconds. Lovely little allyway! Where is that? And that ginormous building 40 seconds in? Where’s that one? Oh oh oh ! And what about that one at 2:43? Where’d you take that?

Bree – Those are quite literally ‘pot trees’ from the Maramureş region (north). It’s more of an aesthetic, tourist pleasing thing now, but previously they hung their pots to dry after washing like that.

Vitalie – Actually I’d love an accurate translation of those lyrics, if you’ve got the time.

Mary – That alleyway is in Braşov, it’s alleged to be the narrowest street in Europe. At 40 seconds is a shot of the interior courtyard of Bran Castle, one of the primary attractions in southern Transylvania. At 2.43 is Peleş Castle in Sinaia, the other primary attraction in southern Transylvania.

I dropped off the grid for bit (did you miss me?) but glad to see you made up with Tony & now are running banner ads from him! Great photos.

Entertaining, as always. Looking forward to getting into these regions and taking some of your advice as soon as the peak season ends.
