Good tips. But for me, the texture of the journey is reflected in what I ate, whether or not my feet hurt, and the vagaries of the weather. So I include those, because I write for myself first. You are right on about humor though – very hard to get that down in writing.

Those are great tips and I think you hit the nail on the head. There are so many bogs out there that if you don’t write something different, you’ll get lost in the crowd and if it’s not quality writing, then people will move on.
